Word Of The Day: Trials

Hey all! Dave the drummer for IATP here. As Jerrod mentioned, we wanted to start a daily post where we were sharing with you what God has placed on our hearts. We will be posting on here, instagram and word of the day, and some other places. I've been digging into the book of Job and am still amazed at how one dude who went through so much was still able to praise God and stay so faithful. Here's a guy who had everything. Before he knew it, he was down to nothing. God allowed Satan to take everything away. Fast forward to present day. I've heard more times than I can count people ask "If there's a God, why would He allow a child die of cancer?" or If God is so good, and he loves his children, why did I lose my job?" or "If God exists, why would *insert negative here*" When we go through some sort of trial let's look to what the writers of scripture have to say. In James 1:2-4 scripture says "2Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." We may not always know why God puts us through trials and tribulations. But we do know that God is a faithful God, we know his character. We know that the same God who allowed Job to suffer, also blessed his life with double. A lot of these times when we are going through some heavy stuff, we are tempted to try and take control of the situation. If we try and take over, we tell God, "Hey God, I got this. I'm pretty sure I can do this better than You." When the reality is, this is a time when we need to trust in Him the most and be obedient.
