Word Of The Day: Forgiveness

Forgiveness. The bible talks forgiveness a number of times. This is something I admittedly struggle with. It's also why I feel the need to dig into the Word on a daily basis. It's so incredibly easy to just write someone off. It's way easier to just ignore them and forget about them. Move on. But if we are to truly call ourselves Christ followers, can we really do that? Ephesians 4:32 says "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you". I have received Christ's forgiveness too many times to count. Wouldn't it be hypocritical of me to not do the same for someone else? In Matthew 18:21-22, Peter comes to Jesus and asks Him if he should forgive his brother 7 times. Jesus replies "I tell you not 7 times, but 77 times." Jesus tells Peter this, not to give him a number, but to tell him to forgive his brother as many times as it takes. I find it important to look to scripture when it comes to forgiveness because it's hard for me to do. I've come to find out that it helps transform me as a person more than anything else. I believe forgiveness is as much for me as it is for the other person. When I forgive someone it's like God is taking that hardened heart of mine and molding it into something much more beautiful. #WordOfTheDay #Forgivenss #DailyWord #BibleStudy #Bible #Ephesians
